Heyns Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides AI governance, AI literacy, and responsible AI adoption consulting services to small and medium enterprises. This policy explains what personal information we collect through heynsdigital.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party for the personal information collected through this website is:
Heyns Digital, a sole proprietorship operated by Philip Heyns
Cape Town, South Africa

2. What information we collect
We collect personal information only when you voluntarily submit it through the contact form on this website. This includes:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Any other information you choose to include in your message
We do not currently use analytics tools, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking scripts on this website. If that changes, we will update this policy before any such tool goes live and, where required, obtain your consent.
3. Cookies
This website runs on WordPress, which may set a small number of strictly necessary technical cookies (for example, to support site security or basic functionality). These cookies do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising. We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. If we introduce any in future, this policy will be updated first.
4. Why we collect it and our lawful basis
We process the personal information you submit via the contact form for one purpose only: to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to discuss and deliver our consulting services to you. Our lawful basis for this processing is your consent, given by voluntarily submitting the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
Providing this information is entirely voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, we simply won’t be able to respond to your enquiry.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the minimum number of service providers necessary to operate this website and respond to you, such as our website hosting provider and email service provider. These providers process information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
We do not transfer your personal information outside South Africa except where a service provider referenced above processes data on infrastructure located abroad, in which case we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a level of protection consistent with POPIA.
6. How long we keep it
We retain enquiry information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and maintain a record of the business relationship, and no longer than [insert retention period, e.g. 24 months] after our last contact with you, unless a longer period is required by law (for example, tax or contractual record-keeping obligations).
7. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it
- Ask us to correct or update inaccurate or outdated information
- Ask us to delete personal information we no longer have a lawful basis to hold
- Object to our processing of your personal information, including for direct marketing purposes
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email us at philip@heynsdigital.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with POPIA.
